Video: HighPoint Pantry Tour

Take a tour of our Food Pantry with this video!

HighPoint offers many programs of support to local families in need.  Our food pantry is one of the cornerstones of our ministry.  We are thankful for our partnership with Dare to Care that enables us to provide this support for so many ‘food insecure’ families in our area.

Currently, we are distributing around 40 tons of food every month to over 400 unique client families, many of which come weekly.

When clients arrive at HighPoint, they start here at the check-in desk where volunteers will help them sign in for the support they need.  When they enter the food pantry they will find it is set up like a grocery store, organized into food categories where they can select which foods would be best for their families.  Each station has a volunteer that helps clients know how many items they can select based on the amount of food we have available and helps them bag their food items.

Our stations include:

desserts and breads

USDA commodity boxes and meat

non-perishables foods like cereals

canned goods

pastas and snacks

drinks

produce

Also tucked into the line is a toiletries table.  Sometimes we have items like shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toilet paper for clients to select.

When the client has finished going through the line our volunteers help them load their car.

To run the Pantry, HighPoint needs lots of volunteers.  We have over 100 volunteers who serve in the pantry – some once a month, some weekly and some multiple times every week.  Volunteer jobs can be anything from unloading a truck of food, putting food on shelves, bagging bulk produce, helping clients select their items and loading them in their cars.

HighPoint wants to show God’s love to people – Our food pantry is one of the very practical ways we do that.

In James 2:15-16 we read – Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

If you are looking for a way to help food insecure families in your community, partner with HighPoint by volunteering, by supporting our ministry with your finances or by donating items we can use.
