HighPoint’s Advocate ministry is an extremely important part of how we serve our clients. Our advocates meet one on one with clients, discuss client challenges and needs, pray, share the gospel, and help refer them to other service agencies in the area. Our advocates are at the heart of our ministry as they encourage, help carry burdens, and share the hope of the gospel.
Recently, Christine Shearin, HighPoint’s Advocate Leader, led a training seminar for our advocates. The training focused on team building and equipping, building our ministry to better benefit our clients.
After this training session, LaGrange Christian Church pastor Rick Davidson led a de-escalation seminar for HighPoint volunteers, preparing them for situations that might require a calming and steady presence.
Our advocates are making a difference, and we are grateful for the opportunity to further this part of our ministry.
“To them, you are the warm welcome to their sometimes discouraged hearts, the listening ear to their life struggles, the cheerleader to their victories, the bridge that provides hope for their various needs, the proclaimer of the Gospel when it so desperately needs to be proclaimed, and the prayer warrior to lift up their weary souls as they go on their way.”Christine Shearin, on the role of an advocate.
