“Giving hope for a better day.”

Nicole Dunkle has been volunteering her time in the clothes closet for twelve years.  She started volunteering “…by sorting clothes before we ever handed out food or had the pantry.”   “There was a need for some extra hands and I was looking for a place to serve.”  When the ministry expanded to handing out food items, Nicole was one of the first to help out.  “I’ve been there ever since and have seen it grow amazingly from several items in one bag to what it is today.”

Now, when she volunteers, Nicole mainly gives out the meat and USDA boxes, organizing and leading that part of the pantry.  “We are all a great team,” she says, mentioning the reliability and selflessness of the pantry volunteers.

Her favorite thing about serving at HighPoint is “Connecting with people.  Giving hope for a better day, and letting others know that someone cares about them.”  On serving, she says “I hope that we are spreading the love of Jesus.  That will always make a difference.” When asked why she continues to serve at HighPoint, she quotes 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.”
